Because changes are gradual, rosacea may be hard to recognize in its early stages. Many people mistake rosacea for a sunburn, a complexion change, or acne, and do not see a doctor.
The identifying features of rosacea are: a diffuse transient redness of the skin of the face and neck caused either by emotion or physical/external stimuli, such as drinking hot liquids or eating spicy foods increased oiliness of the skin blemishes/pimples enlargement of the small blood vessels of the face increased pore size swelling of the skin, especially of the nose eye involvement blepharitis, conjunctivitis, iritis, keratitis


METROGEL and METROCREAM metronidazole topical preparations are particularly effective against the mechanisms by which topical metronidazole acts in reducing inflammatory lesions of rosacea are unknown, but may include an anti-bacterial and/or an anti-inflammatory effect.


Although rosacea is a chronic disease, data on the long-term use of METROGEL or METROCREAM metronidazole in rosacea is not available.

Before you go out in the sun, use a good sunscreen SPF of non-comedogenic. Avoid using oily makeup or creams, products that make your skin dry or peel, and any products with alcohol. These may make your acne worse.
